Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Consultant to join our Local Government data migration team. Our team migrates new customers from third party revenues and benefits systems into the NEC revenues and benefits system as well as merging data for current NEC customers who wish to become Unitary authorities. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining and executing migration and merge solutions to ensure data is transferred accurately, securely, and efficiently into the target environment.

This role requires a hands-on Consultant with strong SQL expertise, particularly in Oracle, who can take ownership of migration tasks, proactively identify risks, and collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders as well as end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain and execute ETL processes to migrate data from legacy systems to target platforms.
  • Data profiling, data structure analysis and modelling for new migration solutions where necessary using data manipulation tools.
  • Maintain, design, write and optimise PLSQL and SQL solutions (preferably Oracle) to support data migration(ETL) and merge.
  • Apply a strong data quality framework in solutions to ensure accuracy, reconciliation, timeliness, data integrity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with migration team consultants and revenues and benefits consultants to ensure migration quality, integrity, accuracy and efficiency are maintained
  • Engage with end users to assess needs and concerns regarding migration/merge progress and issues.
  • Providing solutions and feedback to migration issues raised by the customer after each test migration.
  • Provide clear documentation of migration processes, data mappings and data quality checks.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Solid understanding of data transformations and ETL workflows.
  • Experience in data migration projects.
  • Knowledge and application of data analysis and quality processes in migration processes.
  • Strong SQL development skills, preferably within Oracle environments.
  • Experience in engaging with customers/end users as well as collaborating with colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in local government data migration projects.
  • Experience with other databases (Ingres, Postgres, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, or data integration tools.
