About the Role

We are hiring an Accountant to own and streamline the financial operations of a fast-moving, founder-led business. This is a hands-on role focused on invoicing, accounts receivable, cash flow visibility, and modernizing accounting systems.

You will be accountable for maintaining financial accuracy, improving reporting clarity, supporting system migration efforts, and ensuring payment workflows run smoothly. This role requires someone proactive, tech-forward, and comfortable working directly with leadership in a lean environment.

Responsibilities

Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

• Handle invoicing processes and ensure timely issuance of client invoices
• Follow up consistently on outstanding accounts receivable
• Track incoming payments and maintain accurate payment records
• Ensure timely collections and reduce AR aging

Cash Flow & Financial Tracking

• Monitor historical and predictive cash flow
• Maintain and improve cash flow trackers for visibility and forecasting
• Prepare clear financial summaries to inform business decisions
• Ensure accurate reporting of financial data

Accounting Systems & Process Modernization

• Maintain clean, organized, and compliant financial records
• Support migration from QuickBooks to a modern accounting platform
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
• Leverage AI tools and automation to improve accounting workflows

Banking & Treasury Operations

• Set up and manage digital banking and treasury workflows
• Confirm and document vendor payment releases
• Respond to occasional on-call payment confirmations (including light weekend availability when required)
• Ensure structured and secure financial documentation

Founder Collaboration & Financial Oversight

• Coordinate directly with the founder on financial priorities
• Provide clarity on pending payments, cash position, and financial risks
• Maintain a proactive approach to resolving accounting issues
• Support operational decision-making with reliable financial data

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting
• Experience maintaining accurate and compliant financial records
• Comfort working with digital banking platforms
• Tech-forward mindset with practical experience using AI tools in accounting workflows
• Strong reliability and availability during U.S. business hours (Eastern Time preferred)
• Clear English communication skills

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Experience migrating from QuickBooks to modern accounting systems
• Familiarity with treasury management tools
• Prior experience in founder-led or fast-paced environments
• Experience supporting U.S.-based companies or vendors

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

• Review invoices, incoming payments, and outstanding receivables
• Follow up on pending payments
• Maintain and update cash flow trackers
• Confirm vendor payments and document releases
• Clean and organize financial records
• Collaborate with the founder on priorities and payment schedules
• Use AI tools to improve reporting and workflow efficiency
• Respond to ad-hoc financial confirmation requests when needed
